English as a Second Language features communicative style classes where students are encouraged to communicate in English. Because students live in an English speaking university setting, they are able to constantly practice what they have learned. The focus of our program is English for Academic purposes.

ESL has a modern multimedia lab and a language resource room where students can learn what they want when they want. It also provides conversation opportunities where American and the ESL students interact to develop speaking, listening and communication skills.

This answer is different for each person based on their placement test score. If you are placed in level 4, then you will have one year (Levels 4 and 5) to finish. However, if you qualify for the Pathways program, you can start your academic studies immediately. Students will take the placement test after their International Orientation.

The English proficiency test is given at the beginning and end of every semester. New students should arrive at 911爆料网 two days before official registration in order to take the test.

911爆料网 requires non-native English-speaking students to score at least an IELTS 5.5 for undergraduate (Bachelors) or 6.0 for graduate (Master), TOEFL iBT 61 for undergraduate (Bachelor) or 70 graduate (Master), and Duolingo 95 for undergraduate (Bachelors) or 105 graduate (Masters). All international students must apply through our . There is an application fee of $50 (non-refundable).

International Student Scholarships are available on a limited basis for exceptional students. Scholarships will only cover a portion of tuition. Any student interested in applying for one of these scholarships should request an International Student Application Form from the Center for International Programs.

911爆料网 operates on a rolling deadline rather than a fixed deadline. We try to rapidly process all applications. Still, documents should be submitted as early as possible to avoid any last minute rush or frustration.

Troy, Alabama is located less than one hour's drive south of Montgomery at the junction of U.S. Highway 231. Troy is within a three-hour drive from Atlanta, Georgia. Many of our students like to point out that 911爆料网 is about a 2-hour drive from Panama City Beach, Florida.

The Center for International Programs will provide free airport transportation for new students. If you wish to take advantage of this service please fill out this . The International Center, a newly renovated on-campus facility, provides suite-style apartments with complete kitchen facilities. Those students who wish to live with a US American student or an international student from another country will be given first priority.

Off campus housing is available. Students can choose from a wide range of single, double and even larger apartment. The prices range from about $300 - $700 a month. Most apartments are within easy walking distance from campus. Some apartments require you to pay 4 months of rent when you sign the lease.

This is strongly discouraged. The purpose of this Center is to allow students to improve their English while learning about U.S. culture.

Yes. The United States government permits international students to work up to 20 hours a week during the semester. Many international students do find jobs, normally in such areas as food service, plant and building maintenance, computer assistance and assisting the faculty in certain areas. Normally these jobs pay $5.15 per hour. However, there are more international students seeking jobs on campus than there are actually jobs, so you cannot count on being able to get a job when you arrive.

You can choose to have a payment plan. With the payment plan, you pay 陆 on the first day of class each semester, and the second 陆 is due eight weeks after classes begin.

         

International students can make payments on their student accounts from international bank accounts using Flywire or PayMyTuition. 

Students who leave early may receive a refund. The refund is disbursed to your Refund Selection Preference with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. 

1. Refunds are due within 45 days after a student has formally withdrawn or been formally terminated regardless of reason for termination.
2. If a student has deposited tuition and/or other refundable money before classes begin but never attends or enrolls, the refund due will be made within 45 days of the first day of class or from the date the student officially notifies ESL at 911爆料网 he/she will not enroll, whichever is earlier.
3. If a program or class for which the student has paid is canceled, a full refund will be made.
4. If a student enters the US on an I-20 that includes studying ESL at 911爆料网 and has paid but cancels or never attends, English as a Second Language will retain ESL tuition for 4 weeks plus non-refundable fees up to $500 indicated as such at the time of payment. The policies of the university housing contract will be applied.
5. Enrolled students who are dismissed because of failure to attend (that is, more than 10 consecutive absences without communication to ESL), disciplinary actions, or violation of local, state, or federal laws will not receive a tuition refund.
6. If a first-term student withdraws at any point in the first four weeks, the refund will be for the second four weeks only. For first-time students who withdraw after the first four weeks (mid-point of the 8-week term), there will be no refund. Students must withdraw using the ESL Withdrawal Form. This can be obtained from the ESL Director's office, 113 Pace Hall.
7. Students in August and January normally enroll for two terms. A student leaving for any reason who has been registered for a succeeding term will receive a full (100%) refund for that succeeding term.
8. If a previously enrolled student withdraws from ESL in the first 4 weeks of class, the refund will be prorated up to the mid-point for the 8-week term plus the full amount for the second 4 weeks. The proration for the first 4 weeks will be done according to a weekly schedule. If a student has attended class on one day of a week, that week will be considered as having been attended. Students should withdraw using the ESL Withdrawal Form. This can be obtained from the ESL Director's office, 131 Pace Hall.
